My name is Anthony David Clark aka ‘Clarky’. I was born on earth in 1977 in a town called Newport, Wales. I loved music from a young age and fell in love with metal when I first heard Iron Maiden blasting from my brother’s bedroom. I learnt to play guitar at the age of 10, by my Jedi teacher Alan Jordan (Onslaught guitarist), who showed me the way and how to chug like a muthafunka. 18 years later I would go on to become his guitar tech, travel Europe with loads of bands I grew up with and who Alan showed me how to play like, which was awesome times.
I met Shane aka ‘Samhane - serial artist’, drummer, tattoo artist, who designed the art work for Blue Gillespie's debut album, and we formed Pschyco Slam at the early age of 14. I was dedicated to the cause, travelling 26 miles into the Welsh Valleys on a bus with a guitar that was as big as me to practice. We went on to form SB24 with Russ (vocals), did a demo but then split.
Me and Jamma (David James) formed Trip, we started off using a playsatation for synth and drum loops. Realising we needed a real drummer we recruited a young Nick Harrison on beats who I met in Crosskeys College. We went on to release an EP Insoundiary and put on some good shows but then split. I also played bass for Novusgenus and toured as a guitar tech for the Kennedy soundtrack with Nic Havard.
I had a dream about a Welsh Iron Maiden tribute band called Iain Maiden which when I woke up I formed and played 2 shows for Nic’s birthday, the band was never to be seen again.
I moved to Bridgend to live and work in a pub for a bit but moved back to Newport to pursue my music career. I enrolled at Caerleon University to study a degree in creative sound and music for 3 years. At the end I achieved my qualification, somehow.
Following Trip came Robots Talk in Twos and we released an EP - From the Cradle to the Grave. Mark Griffiths wrote in Kerrang ‘why aren’t this band funkin huge’ but it was never meant to be. After that split, I joined Disgracelands with Nic Havard on vocals (KST, Novusgenus) and Rhys on bass. We recorded our debut album “ave it” in our very own “Big Dog Studios” (Newport) which was also the first album I manned the desk for (recorded).
We formed Blue Gillespie a bit later on with the same members except with Gareth David Lloyd on vocals. We recorded our first EP Cave Country Pt 1, Disgracelands disbanded and we went on to record our second EP Cave Country Pt 2. We decided to go to a proper studio and record our debut album.
I’m also in a duo with Nic Havard called Audio Terrorists where I operate a laptop making beats and bass lines and synth but still playing the guitar to give it a bit of ooomph. I’m working on a solo album, writing a score for a sci fi film and I’m looking to write for more films in the future. Which leads me to now, where I’m writing this bio! I also love tattoos and mixed martial arts especially watching the UFC. Anyways enough of this bollox and I shall see u all in hell f**kers.
